Ventilation
The control of good ventilation is essential to ensure a successful crop. How much ventilation is required depends upon the crop requirements, size and location of the structure.
Gable End Ventilation - essential ventilation can be achieved on smaller structures with door openings to each end to allow a through draft as required on warmer days. For more efficient ventilation an over-lintel pivoting vent panel can be installed to release the heat that builds up in the upper roof space. Although louvre panels can be fitted in the door space and to the outer panels in larger structures, it is best to fit sliding doors which do have the benefit of access along with an over lintel louver if more ventilation is required.

On multispan structures half height and full height complete side ventilation kits can be fitted to gable endframes to maximise ventilation.
Side Ventilation is essential for structures longer than 20m in length to avoid hot spot issues in the centre. If a structure is longer than 30m it is of benefit to split the side ventilation into two independent sections to offer more control which lightens the winch load despite having a 40m operating length.

Side ventilation is available as a complete kit that includes either a tanalised timber or ‘Hollow Box Ali-Grip’ fixing rail to attach the cladding materials to the frame (Aluminium rails are more suitable as they do not flex during operation) .
All fittings required are included. Wide mesh netting (to allow maximum ventilation) or windbreak netting is used to contain the roll up curtain - available to customer choice.
Each vent is controlled by an automatically braked winch on a `roll-down' polythene blind complete with Steel roll tube, rope, clips, and all fittings required.
A clear polythene draught skirt is fitted at the meeting point of the vent to make a seal. There is no need for a base rail on straight sided structures.

Full Height an optional full height 2.5m walk through ventilation system can be supplied on vertically sided structures - suspended from a side gutter to allow walk-through access and easy side loading of stock as well as efficient ventilation via an alluminium roll tube driven through manual gearboxes with crank handles.

Roof Ventilation is an efficient method to reduce heat. At Polybuild we have manufactured, supplied and installed cabriolet roof systems for a number of years and from our experience, the installation, maintenance and operation issues far out-weigh the benefits achieved. If the combination of gable end, over lintel louver and side vent is not enough, an automatic exhaust fan/inlet louver system can be specified, automated and installed by Polybuild to suit your needs.
