Car Valeting

Polybuild have been supplying car valeting structures to commercial dealerships and  valeting companies throughout the Uk for over 15 years.  With the individual needs of the valeting business we have developed stock size structures to suit most applications and we can add specific requirements if needed on a custom basis.

A professional build service is available and short lead times of 6 weeks can be achieved.

Planning Permission
Planning requirements vary with each individual local authority and location. It is most likely that your proposed structure will require planning permission even in the most basic form of notification.

We do recommend planning permission be achieved prior to purchasing a structure to ensure the correct specification is chosen to meet any specific planning requirements.

The most cost effective way to fix structures is via permanent concrete foundations dug into the site. In most cases our valeting customers arrange for their local ground workers to prepare foundation pads to our specification ahead of the build reducing inconvenience and space issues -  we can then affix the building with studding and bolt down plate feet without any delays to our scheduled time on site. Our installers can also prepare the foundations with hired in digging equipment if prefered.

Base plate feet can easily fixed to an existing hardstanding especially if reinforced and suitably thick.

If planning is an issue we can produce structures on base plate frames which are weighted down with the equivalent concrete foundation material in the form of concrete blocks within the frame- this reduces the permanent status of a structure as it can be unweighted and moved.

Vehicle Size
The average car size is approx. 2m wide x 5m long and this width increases to 3.5m with the doors open. To allow for working around a vehicle comfortably we specify an area  4m wide x 6m long per vehicle.

Usually structures function best as a 'drive through' layout from the point of view of access with lanes of vehicles being processed side by side.  Consideration must be taken for manoeuvre and machinery space.

Structure Span Sizes
All structures are available in any length divisible by 2.5m which is the basis of the hoop and post spacings.

Straight sided structures - these have a curved hoop profile from a 1m high vertical side being available in the following span sizes of 4.3m(14'), 5.5m(18'), 6.4m(21'), 7.3m(24'), 8m(26'3"), 9m(29'6") and 10m(33'10"). This style of structure is limited in space along the sides because of the reduced height reducing the width by 1.5m to each side. When selecting a width please add this 1.5m to the required size.

Vertical Sided & Multispan Structures - these have 2.5m+ (8'+) of vertical to both sides with a curved hoop profile roof and are available in the following span width sizes of  6.4m (21'), 8m(26'3") and 10m(33'10") . These structures allow maximum space in the eaves with no height restrictions to the sides and include Aluminium gutters throughout.

These buildings can also be built  as canopies without sides.

Multispan units are available for volume and to separate valeting  processes for wet and dry areas.

Cladding Material
Polybuild only supply British Visqueen polythene to provide our customers with a quality, long life and high performance product in line with our own structures.

We specify White 720g polythene for the roof material to provide the perfect light conditions to view bodywork defects or blemishes whilst giving a comfortable working environment for staff . This material is  guaranteed against any manufacturing defects for 5 years and we do recommend to budget for replacement every 5 years although sheets will usually last longer.

Nicotarp 9 woven polythene is available as more durable option with an approximate 10-year lifespan. Similar to a high quality waterproof tarpaulin material the weaves give resistance to tear, the material is white in colour and gives a smart finish with good light levels for valeting.

On vertical sided structures Nicotarp is used for the sides and end panels where durability is an issue and white polythene is used for the roof. This option works well to reduce cost as Nicotarp is more expensive.

Doors / Ventilation
Door access options include Steel/Biolex  triple sliding doors 3.6m wide on an Aluminium header track or a wind up gearbox blind system across the span less 1m in width. It is important to have door openings at each not only for access but to allow sufficient through ventilation for the hotter summer months.
